The Muslim community is mourning the passing of Nabra, a 17 year old young woman from Sterling, VA. Nabra was beaten to death with a baseball bat and left in a pond after going missing while walking to a mosque with her friends. Hate crime against Muslim Americans is at its highest point with more than 67% increase since 2016. Nabra is another example of the escalating violence towards Muslims Americans. Activists gathered at Union Square to hold a vigil for Nabra and her family and to stand against violence against Muslim Americans.

25% of the people have a 4th cone and see colors as they are

Given the sudden interest for the color of dresses and vision, here some of the fascinating findings we did recently.

The color nuances we see depend on the number and distribution of cones (=color receptors) in our eye. You can check this rainbow: how many color nuances do you count?

You see less than 20 color nuances: you are a dichromats, like dogs, which means you have 2 types of cones only. You are likely to wear black, beige, and blue. 25% of the population is dichromat.

You see between 20 and 32 color nuances: you are a trichromat, you have 3 types of cones (in the purple/blue, green and red area). You enjoy different colors as you can appreciate them. 50% of the population is trichromat.

You see between 33 and 39 colors: you are a tetrachromat, like bees, and have 4 types of cones (in the purple/blue, green, red plus yellow area). You are irritated by yellow, so this color will be nowhere to be found in your wardrobe. 25% of the population is tetrachromat.

You see more than 39 color nuances: come on, you are making up things! there are only 39 different colors in the test and probably only 35 are properly translated by your computer screen anyway :)

It is highly probable that people who have an additional 4th cone do not get tricked by blue/black or white/gold dresses, no matter the background light ;)

(x)

I see 21 colors. I had no idea there are so many more.

I see 35-39 colours, and I hate the colour yellow. That was actually what made me curious enough to stop scrolling and count. Who knew there was a scientific reason behind my colour preferences?

So the idea here is that what I see as annoyingly, garishly bright, most people don’t see as clearly, and that’s why it’s “cheerful?” (I’ve never understood that description of yellow.)

I barely saw 18 or 19. Dang :/

Seriously? I see all 39 extremely easily.

Yeah 39

I saw 38 and I hate yellow.  Know I know why.

Ah, that explains. I got 39

The Final Problem

kylogue:

Since I’m a huge BBC ‘Sherlock’ fan I’m endlessly in love with this show. I find it really disappointing that so many people didn’t enjoy this last episode because for me it was the best one. Maybe the ending & the whole Eurus thing is a little bit not what we expected but the way it was made & put in the episode was incredible. How Sherlock wanted to make sure he has a sister by scaring Mycroft. How Eurus was revealed as a genius & a villain. How she has planned the whole thing. How Moriarty was taking part in it although he is dead. How he entered the island. How Sherlock was solving cases. People said they missed it in the first two episodes and here we have his true personality, his genius & wisdom. And Sherrinford? I feel like no one even thought that it’s an island. Epic. This episode finally showed us everything we didn’t understand and it made a whole. It was emotional in really clever way. And it ended in the most amazing way - two heroes in the small apartament in the Baker Street, solving crimes together & looking after Rosie. How can you not appreciate that.

I’m a huge Sherlock fan, and an even bigger Johnlock fans.

Yes, that last episode is a huge shock

No, I’m not upset that Johnlock ain’t canon

No, I’m not mad at Mofftiss for the ending, instead I thank them for created something that plays an essential part in my life. Whatever they want to do, do it.

Besides, I’m happy enough that they FINALLY MADE A SCENE WHERE JOHN AND SHERLOCK PLAYS WITH BABY I CAN DIE HAPPY NOW

The final problem and the writers

sapphiredrug:

Guys, please, stop scrolling for a bit and read this. I know how everyone is very upset about the ending of series 4 and how disappointing it was. BUT it’s justifiable. What I think they’re doing is simply tricking us.

They want to pull the rug out from everyone’s feet. But they can’t do it so easily because we (tjlc community) are aware of the subtext. So what they’re doing is blinding us before revealing the obvious. They might make the big reveal a 4th episode of the series or maybe a 5th season, but it will happen. I refuse to believe that they would make such a huge queerbait. The amount of detail in the subtext is more than any other show and surely does not seem accidental. Personally, I have a lot of faith in them because I was so disappointed. I know it sounds weird, but keep reading! All the other episodes they’ve written for the show always had a satisfying conclusion, it was carefully done and to just lazily end a WHOLE show like they did in TFP would be completely illogical. I believe that Moffat and Gatiss know what they’re doing and it’s part of a big plan they have. Remember when Amanda said “if we pull this off” I think she meant tricking the tjlc believers into thinking that’s all there is. That we were wrong and just seeing what we wanted to see. Almost everyone is blinded by emotion right now and so they can’t think logically about the situation. “Emotion is the crack in the lens, a fly in the ointment, a grit in a sensitive instrument” Babes, open your minds and set your emotions aside for a bit. I’m talking to all the awesome theorists and writers! Think about this from a logical perspective! I will believe in Steven and Mark to do something unbelievably great until I am proven wrong by them. This finale feels too wrong. And come on… A FREEZE FRAME? How comical can you get? Anyway, I hope you understand something cuz my mind is a mess and I’m not used to explaining anything that boils inside of it…
